Description: A delightfully steampunk computer by a Russian. Unfortunately, not too much information has been posted on the design or the specifications; one site incorrectly labeled this as a beer keg, but you can see that the liquid flowing through it is quite clear. It is a liquid cooled computer. It may possibly be cooled with beer, but I highly doubt it. The front is filled with a fantastic array of gauges. I wonder if they are as functional as they are gorgeous. It would be amazing if it could create QR codes or do QR code analytics and also be such a masterpiece! I'm not sure what is near field communication but I'm sure this computer could figure it out.
It appears that the creator of this has been discovered (thanks to Mr. ConsciousFlesh). It was made by Korko_czong

Mr. ConsciousFlesh.
It looks like another typo. The source I found this on (digg) had this listed as a russian project.
Thank you for that link, I will get it properly credited in my next update.
Cheers

I'm going to try to paste in a Polish to English translation of the site for you guys. This PC is awesome. NOTE: I did no actual translating. I just used Google Translate, so if you find mistakes and such, good luck. For instance, kompa is computer I think. haha. Here we go:
Dear Readers and Visitors Service Mod-Planet. After more than six years of work by the team almost unanimously decided that as a serum-sure we finish out publication activities. Long wondered how to tell you about this fact because it was in for a nasty very difficult decision and it will be hard with you took part.
After the portal will still review the equipment, we are currently working, and which soon will be able to read. We do not intend, however, as can be seen after the following graphic, sink this ship. We plan to move the serum-sure and a forum after the server where you will enjoy a peaceful retirement. Perhaps some time will have to experience a technical break associated with this fact. As at the way the forum will be able to continue to operate without hindrance and to educate students modding.
On behalf of the editorial board would like to thank you - the readers and users, and various supporting businesses to private individuals for their time and assistance in creating our website. We hope that you will truly nasty memories and future will meet again after the pages of the Internet.

Beginnings
Housing
As a basis for modifying the (framework) has served an old ATX. I got it from a friend (thanks Oskarro). My old body was too small to accommodate all 'inventions' that have planned.
The metal walls of the housing decided to replace the wood. The choice fell on the wooden plywood. Mainly for financial reasons, but not only. Plywood is cheap, it is easily cut and machined. In addition, a very nice looking jars. I really do not need anything more.
So I cut from the sheet of plywood pieces on the appropriate side walls and front and top cover. The whole was painted dark hazel varnish and coated with clear varnish.

Front
From the beginning I knew that I need to do from scratch, a new front. The first thing was to design all the elements that will be on the front. I had to make sure everything fits. The presence of large amounts of analog gauges, switches, panels, etc., unfortunately, ruled out the possibility of using standard bays of drives and CD-Rom.
At the front were such elements as:
Top panel with switches for lighting and power and reset buttons.
* Two analog voltmeters to measure the voltage of various devices in the computer. For voltmeters have taken my own scale to more fit the Victorian era.
* Mini panel voltage regulator / fan speed on the cooler
* A panel with a thermometer to measure the disk temperature of the liquid in the cooling water and pump switches and lamps.
* Two tubes nixie LC-516 with rotary switches. While I tried to order every item served a function, nixie tubes are one of the few elements whose sole task is to look nice. I would add, using rotary switches to switch the numbers of the lamps from 00 to 99
* On samy bottom of the front vents are fitted with a grill. Grid (as most of the elements) was formed from what was just at hand. In this case it is ... soap.

Panels made of steel sheet. After cutting the holes I cut out and painted in a spray paint to give the effect of brass.
At the stage of the exercise front, I did the entire electronics of the computer. In the beginning was going hard for the first time used a soldering iron and the first in February were terrible. Over time, however, I have become more proficient, and now it's soldering pleasure.
In addition to solder all the cabel from the lighting, switches, connections, etc. I did also molex'ów voltage regulator / speed fan on the radiator. Adjustment is ankle has 8 positions. Current position of the switch indicates the corresponding LED. With this control I am the least happy and I'm sure I exchanged it for a while porządniejszy.
It is already clear that the number of cables and their tangle is simply indescribable. And this is only a foretaste of what was to come.

Cooler
On top kennels predicted from the beginning of putting the radiator. It is a popular copper heater with a car brand Opel. Total obudowałem wooden plywood. I made the wooden 'BBQ' at the top of the cooler and called. "shroud". From the bottom installed a 120mm fan.
The whole painted on ciemnoorzechowy color. Circulated cooler dolutowałem copper adapters, and bends in order to impose the cooling hoses. I admit that this cooler I like very much. Wooden cabinet and projecting beautiful brass radiator parts fit together perfectly.
CD-Rom
Because the plurality of elements on the front did not allow me to install the CD-Rom (and disks) in the standard bays, I decided to put this drive on top of the doghouse. I did this for a box with the appropriate holes for the cables. Cd extends "backwards. " Maybe this is not a perfect solution, but it fulfills its function and in total I'm pleased with that.

Sides
Since my goal was to make your computer not only look good but also was efficient, to improve ventilation and air circulation inside the computer gave an additional fan on the side of the doghouse. For the grill has served another soap dish.
The side also includes decorative elements. There are two hoses filled with oil and brass filings, are highlighted in yellow LEDs. This gives a nice yellow glow.
The second side is not worse. Predicted to do windows. But forget about the standard window with a plexiglass + cathode. I styled my window on the porthole. The outer rim is screwed huge wing bolts. And what you see inside? Obviously not have any cables or parts of the motherboard. I prepared something special.
Through the window you can see the whole mechanism of steam steampunkowego computer! And so: gears, wheels, gears, chains, gears, and this fully operational plunger! Gears (as most elements) come from the recovery of the old videos, and the piston and the axis of the old telescope from the TV antennas. Total podświetliłem slightly yellow LEDs. Unfortunately, what I have to disappoint some, but this mechanism is not driven by a pair (a shame: P). For 12V motor drive was used (also with video).
2011-02-14
It allowed me to record a very short movie showing the operation of the mechanism - did not fail to see.
In addition to the side wall is another panel. Two found there are controls to adjust the speed of the mechanism and rear fan (controls on the popular transistor LM317T). For interest I might add that this panel was made from an old attachment handle.
Rest
To complete a whole added a bit of decorative elements. These are the valves, fittings, connectors, tap, hoses, tubes, gauges, etc. All are made of brass and were found "cluttering up" the basement.
And here is a small gallery showing the full splendor entire modification.

And how does it all for efficiency and kompa work every day? Overall, not bad, though it could be better. The most annoying thing is vibration transmitted through the pump from the toilet. Although the pump itself is silent, the vibrations move to the other elements of the computer case (eg, the thermometer on the front). Everything vibrates, and sometimes he can be really annoying. In addition to this hassle is to get inside the computer (for example, to remove any PCI card or something). Loosen all the screws, remove the wall, disconnecting cables, then re-making takes a long time and really need to be patient. A mess of cables and a brothel in the middle I will not even mention. The biggest problem is the weight of the entire computer, which weighs> 25kilo: D.
And that's it. I hope that my 'small' modification liked. Time spent on the construction (approximately 2 months) do not consider it lost and I've already got a full head of ideas for further modifications.
Yours Korko_czong
